UNICEF is the United Nations Children’s Fund and its mandate is to promote the rights of every child, without distinction of any kind, such as colour, religion or origin. UNICEF’s global commitment is guided by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

From providing fast humanitarian action in emergencies to long-term reconstruction UNICEF helps girls and boys across the world to grow up healthily and safely and to fulfill their potential. In more than 150 countries UNICEF is dedicated to making sure that children receive medical treatment, have access to safe water, go to school and are protected against violence and exploitation.

In Germany, too, UNICEF is a key voice fighting child poverty, supporting participation and educational opportunities. UNICEF Germany was founded in 1953 – today, it is one of the central pillars to UNICEF’s global work.
