Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE)
Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE), which is a Brandenburg-based university of applied sciences just outside Berlin, has a profile unique in Germany. With its 21 innovative degree programmes in four faculties – Forest and Environment, Landscape Management and Nature Conservation, Wood Engineering and Sustainable Business, it possesses a very distinctive profile dedicated to sustainable business management. As the smallest university in Brandenburg with about 2,100 students from 52 countries and 58 professors, it is currently (2018) one of the best-performing universities of applied sciences in Germany with 8.7 million euros acquired through third-party funding. The HNEE is a trailblazer and pioneer of sustainable development, for which it was already EMAS-certified in 2010 and was also awarded the European EMAS Award for exemplary eco-management in 2017. In addition, it has also been certified as a family-friendly university since 2008 and has adopted innovative climate protection management since 2014.
